Blooming Prairie is a great place to call home!

The people in our community care about one another, and a helping hand is never far away. That spirit of working together has been part of our community since its earliest days.

The community’s history dates back to the 1860s and the arrival of the Minnesota Central Railroad. As settlers made this area their home, they worked together to build the first creamery, schoolhouses, a post office and other foundations of the growing community. That same sense of cooperation and community pride continues today.

Located in southeastern Steele County near the borders of Dodge, Mower and Freeborn counties, Blooming Prairie is home to approximately 1,974 residents. Our community offers the welcoming atmosphere of small-town living while providing local businesses, schools, parks, recreation and community events that bring people together throughout the year.

Whether you’ve lived here for generations, recently made Blooming Prairie your home, or are visiting for the first time, you’ll find a community proud of its history and excited about its future.
